Relationship Difficulties

Interpersonal problems bring many people to therapy, and can manifest across many areas including relationships with: significant others, family members, co-workers/colleagues, and friends. Individuals experience a range of emotions (anxiety, depression, anger) in response to interpersonal stress.

In therapy I will help you to develop insight about the problems you are having. We will identify your specific thoughts, which get triggered in relationship and lead to a disturbed emotional state. Behaviors that may be negatively impacting your relationship will be ascertained. Healthier alternatives to these thoughts and behaviors will be explored. I will support you developing effective communication skills which will assist you in appropriately expressing your feelings, and negotiating for change as needed.

I seek to help individuals cope better with interpersonal stress, and ultimately derive more satisfaction from their relationships. I will recommend couples counseling as needed.
